Microsft is innovating Windows 11 yet again with seamless media sharing between the two most essential devices in your life, your PC and your mobile phone. This new feature named Gallery, allows you to view the photos of your phone within Windows 11’s file explorer. This is how a Windows 11 update lets you view your phone’s pictures in Explorer.

There is a new dev build of Windows 11 rolling out to a limited number of users, as Microsoft said it wants to “monitor feedback” on this update. Addtionally, this Dev update will be the Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 23435 and it will change the way you use your phone and PC together. To access this build, you will have to be on the Windows 11 Dev channel.

Build 23435 will add a button to the File Explorer bar that prompts users to “add phone photos.”

This setting will bring up a QR code that you can scan to get started. Following the steps will then allow you to sync your phone’s gallery with the images in file explorer.

Do I need a Windows phone to use Windows 11 gallery?

Surprisingly, no. You do not have to enable any device with an up-to-date OneDrive app and the OneDrive Camera Roll Backup. That’s all there is to it. It’s nice to see that Microsoft hasn’t limited this feature to the Windows phone exclusively.

How do you use Windows 11 gallery?

The update is available to anyone on the Windows 11 Insider Preview Dev channel on the Build 23435 or later.

To use the Windows 11 gallery feature, simply navigate to the top settings bar within File Explorer and click the “Add phone photos” button, then follow the instructions to sync your phone’s photos with your Windows 11 gallery.

Final word

In conclusion, Microsoft continues to innovate with Windows 11 by introducing the Gallery feature, which allows seamless media sharing between PCs and mobile phones.

The new update, currently available to users on the Windows 11 Insider Preview Dev channel, enables users to view their phone’s photos within Windows 11’s file explorer. Any device with an up-to-date OneDrive app and the OneDrive Camera Roll Backup enabled can access this feature, and it is not limited to Windows phones.

To use the Windows 11 gallery, users need to navigate to the settings bar in File Explorer, click the “Add phone photos” button, and follow the provided instructions to sync their phone’s photos with Windows 11.

With this update, Microsoft is expanding the integration between PCs and mobile devices, enhancing the user experience and offering more convenience in accessing and managing media across different devices.
