Looking up the best Resident Evil 4 Remake PS5 graphics settings (and on Xbox Series X|S) is going to be at the top of many players’ lists now that the Resident Evil 4 Remake release time is finally here.
With the game receiving high ratings and many more fans joining the Resident Evil craze, many will want to ensure that they are with the best settings. Doing this will enhance your experience and hone it to make it even better, no matter what screen you have. We’re breaking down the PS5 graphics settings available to tinker with and what might be the best for you when playing Resident Evil 4 Remake. Note: the below information, while garnered from the PS5 game, will also translate to the Xbox Series X console.
Resident Evil 4 PS5 graphics settings details
There are two settings Resident Evil 4 PS5 graphics settings, the first of which we’ll detail is the Frame Rate mode.
As it says in its name, this setting will prioritize smooth frame rates and gameplay above all else. In our testing, we noticed that this seemed to put the game at the 60 fps (or even slightly above) level, and made for exceptionally, smooth, responsive, and consistent pictures. There is a distinct lack of noticeable blur, but the trade-off is a somewhat noticeable lack of sharpness, particularly in distant and background textures. The immediate foreground and meat of what’s immediately in front of you still looks great and isn’t ruined, of course.
Elsewhere, you can also turn HDR on and off depending on your screen and your preference – however, HDR will make for a more vivid, brighter experience – and you also turn chromatic aberration off and on (turning it off may garner you a few extra fps).
The second setting is one that will go the other way and lower the frame rates in order to boost overall image quality: this is Resolution mode.
This also does what it says on the tin and boosts resolution to (probably, hopefully) 4K at the expense of frame rates, which seem to drop to around 30-40 fps from what we can tell from testing. We picked up on some visible choppiness when moving quickly as a result too. However, on the flip side, enabling this mode also enables ray tracing which will offer you the best shadows, lights, and reflections. What you’ll also get is just a general boost to overall picture quality; the textures are a lot crisper and the game looks fantastic.

Resident Evil 4 PS5 graphics settings – what’s best?
Ultimately – and, yes, it’s an easy answer to give – this is going to come down to personal preference and what you value more in a game; brilliant picture quality or super smooth framerates.
I personally favor picture quality as I want to see every detail, and am fine playing at 30fps or thereabouts so I would pick Resolution Mode. However, the guide’s editor for our sister site VideoGamer – whom I was comparing notes with – massively prefers smoother imagery, and so would choose Frame Rate Mode, which is especially handy for those frantic combat moments and encounters.
