The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti provides a significant increase for consumers using a GeForce GTX 1080 Ti or GeForce RTX 2080. The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti offers a remarkable 12x relative performance improvement over the venerable GeForce GTX 1080 Ti when combined with DLSS 3 technology.
According to leaked OctaneBench results, the new NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti graphics cards are purportedly 5% quicker than the flagship model from the previous generation, the RTX 3090 Ti.
The RTX 4070 Ti is listed in the benchmark’s online submission database with a score of 725, as opposed to the RTX 3090’s 688 and the RTX 4080’s 928. In comparison to the RTX 3090 Ti, the RTX 4070 Ti would be approximately 5% quicker, and the RTX 4080 would be approximately 21% slower.
During the unveil, Nvidia compared the card to the 3090 Ti with some vague benchmarks. They show a range of 1.2-3x greater performance than the 3090 Ti but with caveats. So against a 3090, it should improve further for a lower price.
You can now understand why it would have been a bad idea to sell the RTX 4070 Ti as the “RTX 4080 12 GB” and why the outcry was legitimate. However, this outcry will only be successful if NVIDIA charges less for the RTX 4070 Ti than the $900 MSRP it had set for the RTX 4080 12 GB.
Comparing the two cards on 3DMark we get a pure graphical comparison. And in it, we see the 4070 Ti achieve a score 4.2% higher than the 3090.
The 4070 Ti has a base clock of 2,310 MHz and a boost clock of up to 2,610 MHz by default. Whilst the 3090 has a base of 1,395 MHz and a boost of up to 1,695 MHz. This means the new Ada card is 66% and 54% faster respectively than the Ampere card.
